Yesterday my dearest grandmother was killed by russian soldiers. She lived in the small city Izium, Kharkiv region far away from any military objects. Russian forces partially surrounded the city trying to "liberate" or "denacify" it.

Grandma was surviving without water, electricity and most importantly heating for the last three weeks after russians have destroyed all communication and prevented emergency services from repairing. We could not evacuate her because russian soldiers refused to allow any green corridor. Any volunteers attempting to enter the part of the city controlled by ukrainian forces were shot.
We lost connection with her 2 weeks ago because russians have destroyed all cell phone towers and moreover used military scramblers blocking phone connections and the internet.

A week ago her house was destroyed by 3 russian shellings. After that she was hiding in her shed where she had a wooden stove to heat up and cook something.
Yesterday morning a russian rocket hit her shed where she was trying to warm herself by the stove. Neighbor helped to excavate her from the ruins of the shed and transported to the ground floor of the city hospital. I say ground floor because the hospital building was already partially destroyed by russian bombs and artillery. Doctors could not save her in the hospital basement.

I could not even say goodbye. I don't even know when exactly she died because mobile phone network is being scrambled.

She was the kindest, most innocent grandma. She has survived Second World War and German fascism. She could not survive the Russian war against Ukraine and Russicism.

I write this post because it may open eyes about what is actually going on in Ukraine. Open eyes for someone in doubt or for whom it is far away and business is going as usual. To understand that Russia and this war should be stopped NOW to prevent hundreds innocent lives being lost EVERY DAY. I write this in English because we ukrainians know this too good. 15 other civilians were killed just same day by russian bombings just in one small city where grandma lived.
